Confederacy of the Dunces?

I was looking for a decent picture for Confederacy of the Dunces (this blog) for a banner -- I'm also looking for a proper blogger template. I'm thinking of having K2 so I can have the same theme as my other blog Notes Above Ground. That'll have some what of a continuity in look and feel but the banner would change. What do you think of that idea?

Anyway I Googled "Confederacy of the Dunces" and this blog came up on the second page. ^_^ it's an occupational hazard to be obsessed with Google, stats and page rank. But it was kinda cool that I came up. I looked for images and I found stuff from Wikipedia and an interesting virtual tour of Confederacy of the Dunces.

And then there was this pic:
109th Congress

It's from Radar Online -- the counterpart to the magazine. I just love their stuff. Good thing we have the internet because I won't be able to get it in India. Oh another picture of Confederacy of the Dunces:
Good stuff right? Pictures are worth more than words indeed! I wonder what the Dunces would look like this election -- if you come across any pictures forward them to me will ya?

Look who's the Dumb Blonde now

This one came in my email from my friend Bill. He often sends "dumb blonde" jokes and smart ones too. This one's a very clever blonde joke -- check it out!

The Casino
An attractive, well built blonde from Dublin arrived and bet twenty-thousand dollars ($20,000) on a single roll of the dice. She said, "I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I'm completely nude". With that, she stripped from the neck down, rolled the dice and yelled, "Come on, baby, Mama needs new clothes!"

As the dice came to a stop, she jumped up and down and squealed... "YES! YES! I WON, I WON!"
She hugged each of the dealers and then picked up her winnings and her clothes and quickly departed. The dealers stared at each other dumbfounded.

Finally, one of them asked, "What did she roll?"
The other answered, "I don't know - I thought you were watching."

MORAL OF THE STORY- - - -
Not all Irish are stupid and not all blondes are dumb, but all men are.

^_^ I guess she'll fit in Ocean's Thirteen quite nicely eh?

Captain on Deck!

I found Jean-Luc Picard! I never thought the Captain would be writing a blog from the Enterprise. It makes a very very interesting read. The Captain is having adventures like he had never done before. I guess blogosphere's influence have a lot to do with it because they just had characters from SG1 on the ship!

It is really funny to read and is very entertaining. I never thought Picard had a great sense of humor. But I'm glad I found it and I have to thank Tamiki the Witty because I found Jean-Luc Picard while I was reading the comments. Yes, he was commenting on the blog. Can't wait till he comes around here. ^_^

Till then, make it so Number One!

Birth of the Confederacy

The birth of the "Confederacy of the Dunces" came about when I was in The Reading Room going through a forum discussion on what's the funniest book you've ever read. And it dawned on me that I have saved funny emails and there's no real group called "Confederacy of the Dunces" on Stumbled Upon. I also checked if a blogspot url was available and it was so I took it and made a blog out of it.

The idea of the Confederacy is really simple -- it's a humor blog based upon the funny quirky humor of John Kennedy Toole -- the author of the novel 'Confederacy of the Dunces'. It's probably my favorite book in the humor or funny genre. The Reading Room forum was a catalyst for me because I had an idea of a humor blog -- those emails I get I can dump and share with people. So anything funny I get over the email or find over the internet will be here. ENJOY!

If you want to send in any funny stories or jokes you can email them to me:

When Aliens Breed...

Many will recall that, on July 8, 1947, witnesses claimed an unidentified object, with five aliens aboard, crashed onto a sheep and cattle ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico.
This is a well-known incident many say has long been covered up by the United States Air Force and the federal government.

However, what you may NOT know, is that in the month of March 1948, exactly nine months later, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Condoleezza Rice, and Dan Quayle were all born.

See what happens when aliens breed with sheep?

This information may clear up a lot of questions.
